Ground Fighting: Defend With Clamp Guard and Closed Guard

On the ground, once we have moved from a bad position to a better position, we need to know how to make the best use of the advantage we have gained. In this workshop, we continue on the themes from our “Escapes” workshop to work on making use of the mechanical advantage we have gained to stay safe, make distance, and control the conflict.

1. Clamp guard to standing (Defense, Striking, weapons access, Plata or Wizzer to stand)
2. Closed Guard (defend versus punches, control position, weapons access, Wizzer to stand, flower sweep to mount)
