Due to the growing popularity of certain combat sports, chokes are something that may be encountered in self-defense, security, and even law enforcement situations. This workshop will focus on two of the most common chokes (the “Rear Naked Choke” and the “Guillotine”), understanding what makes them work, and covering principles and drills for defending against them from various positions, both standing and on the ground.

  • Rear Naked Choke (RNC): Cover theory, mechanics, and application of what makes the RNC so powerful and common places it may be applied. Learn how to work safely. Learn and apply defenses to stay conscious versus standing and grounded positional applications.

  • Guillotine Choke: Cover theory, mechanics and application of most common versions (there are many ways to apply). Learn safety protocols and defenses to standing applications and ground.
