There will be times in physical conflicts where initiation is necessary, and a well-placed strike can be a highly effective and appropriate use of force. This workshop is an introduction to ways to generate maximum power, how to deliver a variety of strikes with proper mechanics, proper targeting for optimal effect, and drills and concepts related to these topics.
Participants should wear comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement. Athletic clothing is fine, as is jeans and a t-shirt/sweatshirt or similar outfit. Clothes and shoes should be clean, nails trimmed, and personal hygiene attended to.
Participants do not need to bring any training equipment-all gear and training supplements will be provided by the instructor and/or training facility.
Water, Gatorade, or some other form of hydration is a good idea.
Participants are not likely to need to eat during the workshop. We will be focusing our time on training. However, if you feel that you need to bring a snack in order to maintain focus, feel free to do so.
Since this is an introductory class, we will closely monitor the intensity level so that it is focused on learning the material. Fatigue is not the goal at this stage of training.
Estimated 200–300 calories will be burned in each workshop, but would differ depending upon the individual.
Participants will not be bringing weapons to the class, but the instructor will be open to discussing a wide variety of topics that are pertinent to the material being presented in the natural course of instruction. This could include, at some point, discussions about personal weapon selection.
Extensive measures will be in place to maintain safety. We monitor participant behavior throughout the course of training to minimize the risk of injury. However, all physical training is inherently risky to some degree. All reasonable steps to prevent injury will be taken, and any injury that does occur will be given immediate attention.
Home practice materials will be presented during each workshop.
Yes when relevant.
Participants must be at least 18 years of age. With regard to your child accompanying you to the workshop, keep in mind this is your time to focus on learning. If you feel that these lessons are pertinent based on maturity of your child, feel free to pass along your new knowledge at home.
We will start on time. With the vast amount of material covered in a short period, all three hours are necessary. If you arrive a little early (five–10 minutes), someone will be there to greet you.
You will receive directions on how to find the workshop. Emailed ticket include all needed info.
There will be time allotted for questions at the end of every session.
